Now that travel has resumed, it’s time to pull out the air miles credit cards and accumulate points for free flights. The UOB PRVI Miles Card is one of Singapore’s best air miles credit cards, with high earn rates of $1 = 1.4 miles (local) and $1 = 2.4 miles (overseas). This is even more impressive given the entry-level income requirement of $30,000.

What does this card offer?

You earn 6 air miles for every dollar spent with major airlines and hotels around the world, 2.4 miles for every dollar spent overseas (including online shopping on foreign websites), and 1.4 miles for every dollar spent locally. The miles are actually paid in UNI$ (UOB’s rewards points). You must then convert your UNI$ to air miles at a rate of UNI$1 = 2 miles, plus a $25 conversion fee.

Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions of the UOB PRVI Miles Card prohibit certain types of transactions from earning miles. These are some examples:

  • Transactions on the NETS
  • Insurance and Banking
  • Rent, Parking, Gambling
  • Medical bills
  • Fees for school
  • Charities, religious organizations, and political organizations
  • Court fees
  • Fines
  • Taxes
  • Postal Services
  • Government offerings

How can I make the most of my card?

The number of miles you can earn with the UOB PRVI Miles Card is unlimited. To maximize your points, book as many flights and accommodations as possible through the UOB PRVI Miles page for Agoda, Expedia, or UOB Travel to take advantage of the $1 = 6-mile conversion rate.

Also, when travelling abroad, use your card to pay for your expenses or shop online on foreign websites, as the $1 = 2.4-mile earn rate for overseas spending is quite appealing.

Annual Fee, Minimum Income for UOB PRVI Miles Card

  • Annual Fee of $256.80 (waiver for 1 Year)
  • Annual Fee for Supplemental Card $128.40 (first card free)
  • 21-day interest-free period
  • 26.9% annual interest rate
  • Late Payment Penalty of $100
  • The minimum monthly repayment is 3% or $50, whichever is greater.

You can earn air miles with the UOB PRVI Miles Card at the following rates:

Agoda, Expedia, and UOB Travel offer 6 miles for every $1 spent on major airline and hotel bookings.
1.4 miles for every dollar spent locally
2.4 miles for every $1 spent abroad
SimplyGo bus/train rides provide 1.4 miles for every $1 spent (Mastercard and Visa only)
The card’s strongest suit is its generous earn rate on airline and hotel reservations. To qualify, you must book your flights or hotels through Agoda, Expedia, or UOB Travel. Budget airlines are not included in the offer.

UOB miles expire after two years, so make sure you convert them before that happens.

Should I apply for the UOB PRVI Miles Card?

The UOB PRVI Miles Card has fairly generous miles earn rate when compared to both other entry-level air miles credit cards and some higher-income cards. In particular, the miles conversion rate on local spending is quite high when compared to other cards. Due to their higher local expenses on groceries, dining, and children, high spenders and families are best positioned to take advantage of this card. Families must also pay for multiple people when travelling, which adds to your overseas spending miles.

However, if you are not in such an expensive stage of life, choosing a miles card whose miles do not expire may be wiser, giving you more time to accumulate miles. Another thing to keep in mind is that the UOB PRVI annual fee is relatively high (though it is waived for the first year), so make sure you’re going to use the card extensively before signing up for it.

How do I exchange UOB PRVI Miles for KrisFlyer Miles?

You earn UNI$ every time you use the card, which you must then convert to air miles by paying a $25 conversion fee. UNI$ have a two-year shelf life, so remember to convert them before they expire. You can check the expiry date by logging into your account. The conversion rate is UNI$1 = 2 miles, and they can be deposited into your KrisFlyer account directly. KrisFlyer miles expire after three years.
