Do you want to get a change of scenery? Moving to a new house entails a lot of work and a lot of factors to consider. When it comes to relocating to a new house, each season has its own set of advantages. Spring’s cooler temperatures, summer’s longer daylight hours, autumn’s reduced real estate values, and winter’s lower labour expenses – each season has advantages. Of course, each has its drawbacks.

Whether you’re planning a do-it-yourself relocation or hiring pros to assist you, it’s important to know the big picture before you start coordinating. We’ll look at the benefits and drawbacks of each season to help you decide when is the best time to move.

Best Time to Move

Spring

Benefits

The peak moving season begins around the end of May, which means you have several months of better weather and reduced rates ahead of you. In most regions, March, April, and May have thawed from the winter, resulting in longer days and milder temperatures. Moving firms usually have plenty of labour and vehicles available in the spring, which helps keep pricing cheap. Spring is a more comfortable season to move for everyone because it is sandwiched between the severe winter weather and – in many locations – the intense peak of summer.

Cons

Spring is especially difficult for families because school is still in session. If you have older children, they will be entering the exam season as well, so moving might be disorienting and disturbing. The later you relocate in the spring, the greater the scarcity. That means costs will start to rise in the late spring, and you’ll have fewer options for selecting your ideal relocation date when calendars fill up.

Best Time to Move – Summer

Pros

Summer is a terrific time to sell your home because it is prime real estate season. With more demand, you’re more likely to profit and sell at a higher price. Summer is the best time for families to relocate because schools are not in session. Moving between school years allows your children to begin a new school year fresh. Longer days, of course, are especially appealing for summer moves, as they provide more daylight hours to complete the task.

Cons

The biggest reason for not moving during the summer is the increase in pricing. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, over 70% of all movements take place, making it a competitive season for everyone. Naturally, more demand leads to higher prices, so plan appropriately. It may take longer to obtain your stuff if you are travelling a great distance. This is due to the fact that many long-distance movers will be transporting many residences in their trucks and will need to make each delivery one at a time. Summer isn’t the best time to live in (or move to) a hot, humid climate. Moving might be made even more difficult by high temperatures and dense, sticky air.

Winters

Pros

Moving in the winter will result in much lower prices than the rest of the year. Temperatures and a lack of daylight hours cause demand to be at its lowest. Because moving firms aren’t as busy in the winter, you’ll have more options for the day and time you want to make the move.

Cons

Moving in winter conditions might present a number of difficulties. You and your movers will need to make some modifications whether it’s snow, rain, ice, or just brutal cold. You’ll find yourself doing a lot of prep work to keep dirt and snow out of your home. Moving companies may need to do more to prepare your belongings, such as waterproofing boxes, covering furniture, and salting walkways.
