The DBS Altitude Miles Card is a popular air miles credit card for recent graduates and young working adults. Air miles are earned at a standard rate of $1=1.2 miles (local) and $1=2 miles (international), plus $1=3 miles (or more) on online flight and hotel reservations. If you’ve just started working, the minimum income requirement of $30,000 per year is easily within reach, and the fact that DBS points don’t expire means you can slowly and steadily accumulate your miles.

How Does the DBS Altitude Miles Card Work?

The DBS Altitude Card is a simple card that allows you to accumulate miles that never expire. You can use your DBS Altitude Card for almost all of your daily expenses, including transportation. It has some of the best bonus miles available. The market rate for miles cards is $1=2 miles on overseas spending, which is nothing to write home about. The DBS Altitude Card’s true selling point is the bonus $1 = 3 mile earn rate for online hotel and flight bookings. Furthermore, the DBS Altitude Card provides a generous $1=10 miles on Kaligo hotel bookings and $1 = 6 miles on flight and hotel bookings on Expedia

Fees

For the first year, the annual fee is waived. The annual fee will be waived automatically beginning with the second year if you spend $25,000 within the card year.

However, if you decide to renew and pay the annual fee, you will receive a renewal bonus of 10,000 miles. That works out to less than 2 cents per mile, which isn’t a bad deal.

DBS Altitude Card Miles Accelerator

You can increase the number of miles you earn on your DBS Altitude Card by enrolling in its miles accelerator programme. With a 2% administrative charge on your expenses, you will be able to earn an extra mile on everything you spend, both locally and abroad.

Miles Conversion

Beginner miles collectors should be aware that each conversion to KrisFlyer miles or Asia miles will incur an administrative fee of $26.75 (inclusive of GST), so only convert after you’ve accumulated a significant number of miles. DBS also offers the KrisFlyer Auto Conversion Programme, which converts your DBS points to KrisFlyer miles in 500-point increments at the start of each quarter (January, April, July, and October). The KrisFlyer Auto Conversion Programme is, of course, not free. You will be charged a $42.80 annual conversion fee.

In theory, the KrisFlyer Auto Conversion Programme sounds great because you won’t have to do any administrative work. but converting your DBS Points to KrisFlyer miles means that the expiry will be subject to KrisFlyer’s one-year expiry term. If you don’t want your miles to expire, keep them as DBS Points and convert them to air miles only when you’re ready to book your flight.

Who is the DBS Altitude Miles Card intended for?

The DBS Altitude Card requires a low minimum income of $30,000 per year, making it ideal for students and young working adults. If you graduated recently and have only recently begun working, you’re probably itching to travel now that travel restrictions are mostly non-existent in most parts of the world. I mean, the whole point of going to work is to travel, right? Although the daily earnings are average, the bonus earnings on travel-related bookings compensate. Overall, the DBS Altitude Card is a good entry-level air miles card for young working adults who don’t have a lot of expenses.
