Lifting free weights can also help you build the abdominal and back muscles that you use when you move. Stretching for five minutes every morning can make a significant difference in preparing your muscles for such a physically demanding day.

Declutter early in the moving process so you have less to deal with on moving day. Then, walk around your house, looking for any hidden dangers, such as extension cords that you take for granted or a step that needs to be highlighted. Avoid injury by not overfilling your boxes, particularly smaller ones. The amount you can comfortably carry for an entire day depends on your fitness level, but no more than 40 lbs. per box is recommended. If you have a history of back or knee injuries, consider losing weight to 30-35 pounds.
