Low Cost Gyms Singapore | Affordable Workout Centers in Singapore
Fitness & Beauty | Singapore
by Priyadarshini 1 December 2021Spending upwards of $200 per month on luxury clubs like Fitness First and Virgin Active is becoming the standard. However, after a while, you’ll realize you’re paying more for the lifestyle and brand than for the equipment and facilities. Fortunately, there are still a few low cost gyms Singapore. And there you can exercise for less than $100 per month.
Some of these gyms also allow you to pay per entrance if you’re a commitment-phobe or just want to work out informally without committing to a contract.
Low Cost Gyms Singapore
The Gym Pod (Cost – $4.50 to $12.50 per person)
The Gym Pod is a unique “container gym” concept that’s cropping up all over the place. It already has 12 sites across the island, in both the heartlands and the city center. Each Gym Pod is a miniature gym complete with free weights, a squat rack, and a treadmill. You can reserve a Gym Pod for yourself or with a stranger (2 pax). Each session lasts 30 minutes.
Given the restricted equipment, it’s usually advisable to book the pod by yourself, or you risk the other person grabbing the equipment you want. The Gym Pod is best suited for casual gym visitors, such as those who work out twice a week. If you travel alone during peak hours, that will cost you $76 a month. While it is not the cheapest option, it is also the introvert’s dream. Working out completely alone with no waiting time!
iGym (Cost – $6 per entry)
Another pay-per-entry alternative is iGym in Bishan. They accept credits. To use the gym, you need to download their smartphone app, deposit at least $10 into your app wallet. And sign in and out using a QR code at the gym. The admittance fee is $6 for the first hour and $0.50 for the next 30 minutes. If you have a valid cause to stay in the gym for four hours, the fourth hour will be charged at a rate of $6. If you have a convenient location, iGym is a less expensive drop-in gym than The Gym Pod. Working out twice a week here will cost you only $48.
ActiveSG Gym (Cost – $2.50 per entry, $15-$30 per month)
ActiveSG Gym, Singapore’s largest collection of public gyms with locations in nearly every heartland district. It is by far the most low cost gym in Singapore. They are also the most popular on the list. And it means you’ll encounter gym hogs and have to wait a while to use the equipment. Free weights are always in high demand, and the squat racks and benches are virtually always crowded.
The highest membership tier (Silver) is only available to SAFRA members. You have unlimited access to all gym locations at all times of the day. It appears to be reasonable at less than $42.80 per month (paid every three months), but there is a large one-time fee to pay upfront.
The second tier membership (Red) is available to SAFRA members and MINDEF employees at the bottom left. It is only valid for off-peak access and only allows you to visit one gym facility. It’s significantly less expensive at $32.10 per month.
