Yoga helps you discover peace and serenity. But some of Singapore’s yoga courses are enough to give even the most advanced out yogi a heart attack. When did inner serenity have to come with such a hefty price tag? In this blog, we tell you about five free yoga classes in Singapore.

Whether you like traditional yoga with a strong focus on breathing exercises and cleansing procedures. Or a hip environment packed with trendy peers, here are few ways to attend yoga classes without spending a dime.

Five Free Yoga Classes in Singapore

Health Promotion Board’s Sunrise in the City

If you’d like to check out some of Singapore’s newest and most innovative yoga studios, then come here. And are willing to get up early in the morning, sign up for free yoga lessons through the Health Promotion Board’s Sunrise in the City programme.

Participating studios are all around Singapore. However, they are mostly concentrated in major regions near the CBD. They open their doors early in the morning or after 7 p.m. to provide free yoga courses to full-time employees.

Yoga Kutir Nikam Guruji

While we often associate yoga with a sequence of exercises aimed at twisting our bodies parts, the ancient science of yoga was created to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. And not to look cool in lycra or impress others with your handstands. The breathing exercises and cleaning techniques that keep your insides running effectively, paired with the asanas or positions you practice. These are an important element of yoga. The 12-week basic course taught by Nikam Guruji Yoga Kutir teaches both at several places throughout the island. Although the organization offers free yoga lessons, certain centres will charge a $5 to $10 registration fee.

Open Mats

Although not strictly free, yoga studios frequently host Open Mats for their instructors to practice instructing real students. You pay as you wish, which means you can choose not to pay if you don’t want to, but you can also donate a modest sum if you want to express your gratitude.

At their Guillemard Studio, Yoga Inc conducts open mat courses. You only need to provide your own towel and lock; otherwise, they cost $1 and $2 to rent, respectively.

Meetups

Meetup is a great place to find free sports and workout groups. Most of the yoga lessons on the site charge $10 to $25 each lesson. Even so, one or two organizations offer free yoga classes in Singapore, the most well-known of which is the Yoga for Peace and Balance organization.

The group has grown rather large, with close to 50 participants at times. And meets every Sunday morning at the Botanic Gardens for an outdoor yoga session. The style is modern-style Hatha Yoga. And while the class is designed for beginners, individuals with no prior yoga experience will find it to be a strong workout. Although those who are sun-shy should bring plenty of sunscreen, the outside venue makes it a wonderful alternative to air-conditioned studios.
