Emerald Hill Road

One of the most famous attractive streets in Singapore is Emerald Hill Road. It is located right behind the Orchard Central shopping complex. The buildings in this lane are vintage dating back to the 1900s and the façade will give you a glimpse of Chinese Baroque style mixed with art décor.

The streets are picturesque and you will feel like walking back in time, taking a stroll here. This is a great place to click some memorable pictures and also if you like you can enjoy the happy hours at the local bars here. Singapore Art Museum

Located at the center of a popular shopping district on Bras Basah Road is the Singapore Art Museum. If you adore art and take a keen interest in history then this art museum is a must-visit for you. The museum boasts of around 8,000 Singaporean and Southeast Asian modern art.

You will find photography, paintings, and other installations here in this museum. Spread over a massive 10,000 square meter, the entire museum maintains international standards and has completely climate-controlled galleries.  Come here to explore and learn about Southeast Asian countries. Also, if you feel hungry you can grab a bite from the café inside the museum.

National Museum of Singapore

This is one of the prominent national monuments of the country. It was formerly known as Raffles Library and Museum and after a period of halt, the museum was again opened for the public in the year 2006. The museum is the largest in the country with over 18,400 square meters of exhibition area.

It is an architectural wonder in itself as the 11-meter high glass passage allows us to tour the entire museum from the old building. Visit the museum to explore the rich culture and history of this tiny island nation. The museum exhibits historical & cultural artifacts reflecting the colonial past of the country. History buffs, you know what not to miss when you are in Orchard Road.

Fort Canning Park

Looking for lush green parks come to Fort Canning Park. Close to Orchard Road, this park is one of the most important highlights of Singapore. Take a day out and escape the hectic schedule of city life and enjoy nature at this park.

The park is rich in flora and you can enjoy the greenery around while taking a walking tour. There are interesting walking trails and unusual plants surrounding you. This park is also popular for its underground tunnel known as Battle Box which is here since World War II. Taking a tour of the Fort Canning Park is one of the most interesting things-to-do in Orchard Road.

The Istana

The Singaporean President’s office is located at The Istana. Earlier it was called the Government House and this magnificent structure was built by Sir Harry St George Ord, between 1867 and 1869.

The building reflects the Anglo-Indian style and has a gigantic 6-ft high statue of Queen Victoria.  You can visit The Istana grounds on the following occasions – Chinese New Year, Labour Day, Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali, and National Day. Come visit the Istana as it is one of the best things-to-do in Orchard Road.

Cinema at the Cathay

Formerly known as The Picturehouse, this opened in Singapore as an art house cinema. The cinema opened in the year 1990 and introduced alternative cinema to Singaporean audiences.

It may surprise you that this is the only art house cinema in the country to date. However, nowadays it also features Hollywood films. Many festivals, special events are also held at the Cinema at the Cathay. Cinema lovers make sure you pay a visit here when you are in Singapore.
