They also allow the supplementary cardmember to enjoy some or all of the same benefits and privileges as the primary cardmember, though the extent to which this applies varies by provider. In this blog, read about the best supplementary credit cards in Singapore

Best Supplementary Credit Cards in Singapore

HSBC Advance Credit Card

The HSBC Advance Credit Card offers unlimited 1.5% cashback on all purchases, increasing to 2.5% when you spend more than S$2,000 per month. If you can’t quite reach this limit on your own, get supplementary cards for your spouse and/or children to pool their purchases. And with up to five free supplementary cards available, there’s little reason not to.

While your base cashback is capped at S$70 per calendar month, you can earn an additional 1% HSBC Everyday+ Cashback for a total cashback of 3.5% if you meet the following criteria: Every calendar month, deposit new funds into your HSBC Everyday Global Account through salary crediting and/or inward transfers from a non-HSBC bank account (minimum S$2,000 for HSBC Personal Banking customers and S$5,000 for HSBC Premier and Jade customers); and Complete at least five eligible transactions. The maximum bonus cashback per calendar month for HSBC Personal Banking customers is S$300, and it is S$500 for HSBC Premier and Jade customers.

Standard Chartered Cashback Card (Unlimited)

The SCB Unlimited Cashback Card offers 1.5% cashback on all purchases, so the more transactions you charge to it, the more you save. This is also why it makes an excellent supplementary card for family members. Put a copy in the hands of your spouse and children – easy to do because annual fees for up to five supplementary cards are waived – and watch the savings pile up!

The UOB One Card

The rebate structure may take some getting used to, but the basic idea is that if you spend at least S$2,000 per month for three months, you will earn the maximum cashback (equivalent to 5% cashback). As a result, the most rewarding way to use this card is to keep your spending going as long as possible.

This is where your family members come in: get them to contribute to the pool in order to meet the S$2,000 monthly spend and receive the most cashback each quarter.

Best Supplementary Credit Cards in Singapore – UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card

The UOB PRVI Miles credit cards are well-known for their industry-leading local spend earn rate of 1.4 miles per dollar, but it is the American Express variant that makes having additional cards worthwhile. If you charge more than S$50,000 in a year, you will receive 20,000 air miles. If you’re having trouble reaching that limit on your own, get some extra cards and enlist the help of your family.

This incentive encourages having more supplementary cards rather than fewer. However, keep in mind that only the first two supplementary cards’ annual fees are waived.

Citi PremierMiles Credit Card

The Citi PremierMiles Visa Card allows you to earn air miles at 1.2 miles per dollar spent in the United States and 2 miles per dollar spent abroad. Since Citi has made all supplementary cards for this credit card free for life, why not get one for your spouse and (fiscally responsible) children and earn air miles on their purchases as well? If you’re concerned about having too many miles,  Citi air miles have no expiration date.
