The HSBC Revolution card is a rewards card. For the uninitiated, this means you spend money on the card, earn rewards points, and then redeem them for gifts. When you spend online and have contactless transactions, you can earn 10X rewards (equivalent to 4 miles or 2.5% cashback).
In addition to the rewards points, if you deposit at least $2,000 ($5,000 if you are an HSBC Premier or Jade customer) into an HSBC Everyday Global Account each calendar month, you will receive 1% cashback on your spending. Another major advantage of the card is that there is no annual fee, so you don’t have to call the bank every year to request a waiver.
Terms and Conditions – HSBC Revolution Credit Card
The HSBC Revolution Card is a basic credit card. In other words, as far as credit cards go, it’s one of the most accessible—you need at least $30,000 in annual income to sign up for it, which is as low as it gets.
- 20-day interest-free period
- 25.9% annual interest rate
- Late Payment Penalty of $55
- The minimum monthly payment is 1% or $50, whichever is greater.
HSBC Revolution Card Points
When you use the HSBC Revolution Card, you earn reward points.
The pay rates are as follows:
- 10X points for online and contactless purchases
- 1X reward point on all other purchases
Isn’t it pretty straightforward? The online spending category is extremely appealing, as everything can now be purchased online, from plane tickets to groceries. The catch is that there is a time limit. Only up to $1,000 per month can you earn 10X rewards points. When you reach the cap, you will only receive a 1X reward point. HSBC reward points are valid for three years. So remember to redeem them before it’s too late!
Redemption of HSBC Revolution Card Points
In HSBC’s Rewards Boutique, you can exchange your reward points for gifts. AirPods, iPads, dining vouchers, and hotel stays are among the gifts available. You can also exchange your points for cashback or air miles, which will be credited to your KrisFlyer or Asia Miles account. Browse the rewards catalog until you find a gift you want to redeem with your rewards points. Keep the gift code handy.
How can I make the most of my HSBC Revolution Card?
Because the HSBC Revolution Card earns 10X points for online purchases, you should use it whenever possible. For example, instead of going to the supermarket or restaurant, do your groceries online or use online food delivery. You should also make as many contactless payments as possible. Many merchants accept Visa PayWave and allow you to tap your card, but if you want to make contactless payments second nature, use mobile contactless apps such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.
Just keep in mind that you can only earn 10X rewards points on up to $1,000 in monthly spending. So, once you’ve reached the cap, there’s no point in using the card.
