In this blog, we tell you the best credit cards you can use to get generous cashback on grocery shopping in Singapore.

Best Credit Cards for Groceries in Singapore

Maybank Family and Friends Credit Card

The Maybank Family & Friends Card is one of the most generous and valuable cards available. You can get 8% cashback on groceries, dining/food delivery, transportation (including petrol, ride-hailing, and public transportation), data communication/online TV streaming (including your mobile/internet plan or cable TV subscription), and a few selected pet/retail stores. If none of the above apply to you, you can change the default categories on the Maybank app to three others: online fashion, entertainment, and pharmacies. The maximum number of categories is five.

UOB One Card is the best Cold Storage and Giant credit card

The UOB One Card is an all-purpose cashback card that provides a flat cashback amount every quarter based on your spending tier.
In a nutshell, if you spend at least $2,000/$1,000/$500 in each quarter month, you will receive a cashback of $200/$100/$50 at the end of the quarter. This equates to a total cashback rate of 3.33% across all spending categories. However, your cashback rate will decrease if you continue to spend in any of the categories after you have met the minimum spending requirement.

Now that that’s out of the way, here’s the good news: UOB One members receive an extra 5% cash back at Cold Storage, Giant, Market Place, 7-11, and Guardian. This is in addition to the 3.33% you already receive. To get your hands on that extra cashback, you must qualify for at least one of the cashback tiers, so make sure to consolidate your spending and charge it to your card once a quarter.

China Sheng Siong Credit Card – Best Credit Cards for Groceries in Singapore

Just when you thought you were being frugal enough by shopping at Sheng Siong, you discover that you can save even more money — not by shopping elsewhere, but by using the Bank of China Sheng Siong Card. When you use the card at Sheng Siong, you will receive a 6% cash rebate with no minimum spending requirement. This is limited to $45 per month.

It also provides a cash rebate of 1.5% on qualifying expenses incurred outside of Sheng Siong. However, it only makes sense if you rely on Sheng Siong for your grocery needs.

NTUC Trust Credit Card

The one major stipulation is that you spend at least $450 outside of NTUC FairPrice to be eligible for rebates. If you’re willing to do that, you can earn 7% rebates on in-store purchases, which isn’t bad. Your reward points (capped at 5,500 LinkPoints) are earned in the form of NTUC Link Points, which you can then redeem when shopping at NTUC.

Best Credit Cards for Groceries in Singapore – Citi Cash Back Card for Supermarkets

If none of the above cards appeal to you, or if you shop at more than one supermarket chain, a generic cashback card, such as the Citi Cash Back Card, can make life a lot easier. The Citi Cash Back Card gives you 8% cash back at supermarkets and grocery stores all over the world. You will also receive 8% cashback when dining at restaurants and cafes, as well as up to 20.8% fuel savings at Esso and Shell. The monthly cashback is limited to $80. Given how few things you can use this card for, the minimum spending requirement of $800 per month is on the high side.
